I was surprised to be greeted with its &#8220;welcome&#8221; page upon first launch. It&#8217;s got a nice retro illustration of a robot destroying some high rises.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.wiredatom.com\/images\/firefox3Beta2-20080201-052542.jpg\" width=\"450\" height=\"323\" class=\"centered\" alt=\"firefox 3 Beta 2 grphics\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Seems like going retro is hip again.<\/p>\n<p>Some quick thoughts on Firefox 3 Beta 2 on my Mac:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\n1. Snappier performance;<br \/>\n2. Some nice visual effects (like the tabs sliding from side to side);<br \/>\n3. Crashes from time to time;<br \/>\n4. Bookmarks a little messed up; but I simply used the &#8220;manage bookmarks&#8221; feature and reverted back to a previous backup the Firefox had made when I installed the beta;<br \/>\n5. Many addons don&#8217;t work; I had to use<\/p>\n<div class=\"codecolorer-container text railscasts\" style=\"overflow:auto;white-space:nowrap;width:680px;\"><table cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\"><tbody><tr><td class=\"line-numbers\"><div>1<br \/><\/div><\/td><td><div class=\"text codecolorer\">about:config<\/div><\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/div>\n<p>to add a new<\/p>\n<div class=\"codecolorer-container text railscasts\" style=\"overflow:auto;white-space:nowrap;width:680px;\"><table cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\"><tbody><tr><td class=\"line-numbers\"><div>1<br \/><\/div><\/td><td><div class=\"text codecolorer\">Boolean<\/div><\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/div>\n<p>variable<\/p>\n<div class=\"codecolorer-container text railscasts\" style=\"overflow:auto;white-space:nowrap;width:680px;\"><table cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\"><tbody><tr><td class=\"line-numbers\"><div>1<br \/><\/div><\/td><td><div class=\"text codecolorer\">extensions.checkCompatibility<\/div><\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/div>\n<p>and gave it a value of<\/p>\n<div class=\"codecolorer-container text railscasts\" style=\"overflow:auto;white-space:nowrap;width:680px;\"><table cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\"><tbody><tr><td class=\"line-numbers\"><div>1<br \/><\/div><\/td><td><div class=\"text codecolorer\">&lt;strong&gt;false&lt;\/strong&gt;<\/div><\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/div>\n<p>so that Firefox won&#8217;t check for addon compatibilities and disable them. Some addons still won&#8217;t work, but most will likely work as advertised.
