And from there, I saw this eco-friendly online store: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vivavi.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Vivavi<\/a>, and this eco-friendly design school, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ecosainstitute.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Ecosa Institute<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>There seems to be an increasing number of environmentally conscious population in the United States, especially here in California. When I was back in New York, terms like &#8220;organic&#8221;, &#8220;environmental&#8221; and &#8220;vegetarian&#8221; are associated with <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Yuppies\" target=\"_blank\">Yuppies<\/a> from the <a href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?q=west+77th+street+and+columbus+ave,+new+york,+ny&#038;ll=40.780671,-73.976440&#038;spn=0.016732,0.026093&#038;hl=en\" target=\"_blank\">Upper Westside of the town<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In the Bay Area, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.traderjoes.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Trader Joe&#8217;s<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wholefoodsmarket.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Whole Foods<\/a> are pretty busy places. Steve Jobs is known to frequent Whole Foods since it&#8217;s only blocks from <a href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?q=1+infinite+loop,+cupertino,+ca&#038;ll=37.331886,-122.030811&#038;spn=0.005524,0.006523&#038;t=k&#038;hl=en\" target=\"_blank\">Apple&#8217;s main campus<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>This reminds me of the notion of a &#8220;sustainable&#8221; business with minimal footprints mentioned by Ray Anderson (his info <a href=\"http:\/\/www.interfaceinc.com\/us\/company\/about\/ray_anderson.asp\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/myhero.com\/myhero\/hero.asp?hero=r_anderson\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>) in the DVD <a href=\"http:\/\/thecorporation.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><i>The Corporation<\/i><\/a>. If CEOs of Fortune 500 companies can think the way he does, the world would be a far better place. It&#8217;s rare to see a business with some conscience. Most others do it because of pressure from their customers or regulatory constrains (ahem-GE-ahem). But whatever it takes, it&#8217;s a <i>popular<\/i> thing to do now. So everyone&#8217;s doing it.<\/p>\n<p>Since I started talking about diapers, here&#8217;s a company a former <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Kozmo\" target=\"_blank\">kozmo.com<\/a> employee founded in NYC to deliver diapers (and some other stuff) &#8212; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.maxdelivery.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">MaxDelivery<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I was reading an article about biodegradable diapers and bumped into this site: Treehugger.
