Mac Uptime

Murdza sent me this image the other day….

Mac: 200 days without reboot

That’s 200 days of Mac OSX running without a reboot. I am sure there are machines/OSes that have last longer than that. But it’s impressive nonetheless. I would never want to bet with someone if I had a Windows-based machine to be up and running for that kind of up time.

Murdza, don’t you ever apply OSX updates that Apple issues? They almost certainly require reboots!

Hmm, you probably don’t need to restart if you know your way around Unix. You can can start all “cleansing processes” that run at startup in a shell or restart single modules.

On any other OS/computer I would’ve said: Oh man, that has to cost a lot of energy, but on a Mac we have sleep mode :-)

I have looked high and low on how to apply Apple-issued patches without restarting my Mac. But it doesn’t seem to be possible… but what do I know, I just go by what I find on Google… ;)
