Stupid Canon Camcorder

The Canon camcorder that single-handedly prevented me from attending Steve Jobs’ commencement speech at Stanford is getting a free repair from Canon. I called Canon, and apparently they have a “good will repair program” going on for the model that I own (translation: avoid class action lawsuit).

The way Canon went about doing this was impressive. Even though the warranty had already expired, they honored the repair for the CCD nonetheless. Their willingness to stand behind their products and their issues makes me a happy Canon customer. And happy Canon customer buys more Canon products!

What screwy luck! Well.. even if you had gone with the camera working, you’d probably have a hell of a time getting a good place to shoot. What bugs me most is… isn’t it a very strange coincidence that your camera just HAD to die on that day?? I mean.. wtf… I’ve been searching for a downloadable link to video of the speech and I have yet to find any!!

Does Steve Job’s RDF also fry out video cams of everyone except those “licensed” to take a shot of him!??

Oh and yes, coincidentally.. my name IS Steve :P

Now that you’ve mentioned it, I think you ARE right! The only available video online is that lame clip from Stanford.

Actually, someone emailed me about having a video clip online. He recorded the entire speech but was perplex about getting the whole damn thing online. And coincidentally, he’d taught Steve Wozniak 30+ years ago.

    Weird.
